What appliances should be turned off before range hood installation?

An appliance that should be turned off before a range hood installation is the oven. The hood will need to breathe, so the oven will create too much heat and block the airflow. Other appliances that may need to be turned off during installation are the range, microwave, and refrigerator.

First, you'll need to decide what kind of range hood you want. There are three main types: electric, gas, and propane.

Electric range hoods are the simplest option and work with either electric or gas cooktops. They usually have a single fan that pulls air through the hood and out the door.

Gas range hoods use natural gas or propane to run the fan. These models come with two fans: one that circulates air inside the hood, and another that pushes air out the door.

Propane range hoods use fuel cartridges to run the fan. These models require a special vent hose (usually included) to connect from your stovetop to the hood.

What to do after the range hood has been installed?

Once your range hood has been installed, there are a few things you should do to make sure it is working properly. First, be sure to check the filters and the fan. Next, be sure to clean the hood regularly with a mild cleaner or a vacuum cleaner with the appropriate attachments.
